Despite distance and Kasey wanting to live in a larger city they were soon both living in Wausau, as if they were meant to be here together the entire time! :) These two are planning a 2016 wedding and we cannot wait to see everything they're dreaming up with Evolutions in Design come to life!! In the meantime, we love how much creativity and thought Kasey put into her and Mike's engagement session! They knew each other in high school, he liked her but didn't act on it, they went their separate ways for college, and a few years later were set-up by a mutual friend who knew of those high school feelings Mike had for Kasey. It's slow, it takes me away from interacting with the couple, and doesn't suit my style.Kasey and Mike's love story sounds like it is straight out of a movie. Obviously there are a lot of fantastic photographers out there who do use a Mamiya or Contax at every wedding, but it's not for me. You definitely can't treat them the same way as you would a digital. It doesn't help when the Contax's autofocus is slow and often pretty damn inaccurate. I'm sure you know this from your experience with the Hasselblad, but shooting wide open on Medium Format (where I believe the format shines the most) is super tricky at the best of times. The Contax made me static and I was left with far fewer photos than I'd normally deliver. Don't get me wrong, I love film and I love those cameras, but my style of shooting means I end up taking a lot of photos in a similar scene to get the best expression (we're always getting couples to move around and interact). I've used the Contax for one wedding's portrait session and it left me a little cold on doing it again. Which Mamiya are you looking at? The cheaper (older) models definitely don't have autofocus and the nicest lens in the system (the 80mm f/1.9) is manual anyway. I own both a Contax 645 and a Mamiya 645.
